A Hand-Weaver's Lament
Saturday durational between 5pm and 7pm
A Hand-Weaver's Lament is an interactive performance piece taking historically domestic work out into the streets. The piece alludes to the communal aspect and universality of weaving in myth and magic, but also reminds us of the politics of industrialisation, its friction of destitution and the history of Frome as a wool and weaving town.
Come and join us doing communal spinning, carding or singing weaving, waulking and spinning songs
About the Artist
Stephanie Wehowski is an installation artist who lives in Frome and is currently working together with her 8 year old daughter to weave a shroud from total scratch: washing, carding, hand dyeing and spinning the wool, and weaving the cloth on a table frame
